About ErgoCutting
We are getting taller, but kitchen worktops don't grow with us. That's why we made the ErgoCutter, the adjustable cutting board riser for professional kitchens.
It started with a question
In mid-2020 founder Charlotte Strijd worked as an HR project manager. Because of COVID she was looking for ergonomic solutions for office staff who suddenly had to work from home. That's how she discovered, by chance, how poor the working height in professional kitchens is.
An ergonomic workplace is a legal duty for employers, but in the kitchen it's often not realised. An 85 cm worktop is too low for chefs taller than 1.80 m. Raising it is expensive and doesn't suit a team of different heights.
After research it turned out to be a (literally) painful problem. Charlotte set out to relieve the back and neck pain of chefs who are taller than average.

From sketch to product
- 2020The problem discovered, research and first sketches.
- 2021After a year of sketching, searching, checking and testing, the prototype is ready.
- NextCharlotte pitches on Dutch TV in front of five well-known entrepreneurs. The deal doesn't happen, so she finds another way to produce.
- NowThe ErgoCutter is made at De Zuidhoek in Zierikzee and used in restaurants, catering companies, care kitchens and culinary schools.

The TV pitch
The ideal manufacturing partner
After a long search Charlotte found De Zuidhoek, a social enterprise in Zierikzee, the Netherlands. It's one of the few places in the country where metalworking and welding are still done by true craftspeople. The team is driven, thoughtful and reliable, and working with them supports corporate social responsibility.
With the ErgoCutter you quickly lift your standard GastroNorm cutting board to your ergonomic height, so your back and neck stay pain free and you enjoy cooking again.
